Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly does the Medcom AI Assistant do?
The Medcom AI Assistant is a specialty-trained, self-learning AI system that responds to patient enquiries across:
- Telephone
- Live conversation
- SMS
It answers questions, provides accurate information about the Consultant or clinic, and handles provisional appointment bookings, especially when the Medical Secretary is unavailable (after hours, on leave, or during busy periods).
Is this designed to replace Medical Secretaries?
Absolutely not.
Our AI Assistant is built to support, not replace, your Medical Secretary. All bookings are provisional and confirmed by your team. Full conversation transcripts are sent directly to your Secretary or practice inbox, and the system is configured in collaboration with them.
How is the Assistant trained for each Consultant or clinic?
We custom-build each AI Assistant to reflect the tone, information, and structure of your practice by:
- Using the content from your website
- Reviewing your Frequently Asked Questions
- Incorporating your pricing, appointment types, and clinic policies
- Working directly with you and your Medical Secretary
This ensures every Assistant is specialty-specific, bespoke, and aligned with your brand.
Can the Assistant learn and improve over time?
Yes.
The Medcom AI Assistant is self-learning and continually improves based on:
- Actual patient interactions
- Updates from your Secretary or website
- Patterns in common enquiries
- Feedback from your team
It’s reviewed and updated regularly by our support team to ensure relevance and accuracy.

What happens after hours if the phone isn’t diverted?
